Run Out their Energy
Usually, in the afternoon, they start to annoy or fight with each other and begin, whining, interrupting or complaining to me. In my house, these are all signs that they need to burn energy. So, we take them down to the beach or out to the grass area and run them.
They LOVE it! It’s a GAME to them.
We go to the beach and draw lines in the sand, a start line and an end line and they race. I say the standard, “on your marks, get set, GO!” and they run to the finish line. Then we do it again, and again and again. We run them until they don’t want to race anymore.
Shuttles with cones at your house is also a great option if you can't draw lines in the sand. We set up 2-3 cones and the boys run back and forth. For variation, they will do a crab walk to one cone and then run back or lay on their belly each time they get to a cone.
There is no complaining and they run at least a portion of their energy out.
