A wonderfully funny book from Chris Van Dusen, King Hugo’s Huge Ego uses some old language that kids won’t hear in everyday life in the 21st Century and offers a lesson on being humble. Delivering funny illustrations as usually, with detail that will make the parent or adult reading the book chuckle. Chris Van Dusen continues to entertain.

One of three Mr. McGee books from author Chris Van Dusen, A Camping Spree with Mr. Magee gives you wonderful mid-Century illustrations with a Boler trailer style camper and written humour that can only be enhanced when read out loud. The author adds in some geographical locations that are great for little one to pronounce. You will be laughing while reading this book and finding inclinations in your voice you never knew existed as you read the rhythmic phrases Chris Van Dusen has created.
A cute story of a genius, with the confidence to look past his inabilities on the baseball field and use the knowledge of his passion, Outer Space, to save the day in his small town. As always, great rhythmic language and colourful illustrations. Chris Van Dusen hits another one out of the park, pun intended ;)

![]() The benefits of reading to your children from an early age are amazing, which is why we began, as most parents do reading to our boys immediately. My plan was to start young and continue with reading to them consistently, what I hadn’t planned for was enjoying it so much. I truly LOVE reading books to the boys and one of the main reasons I do is because of this extremely enjoyable author. Chris Van Dusen. His amazing writing, includes intelligent language, rhythm and rhymes. Chris’ incredibly detailed art work depicts a mid-century style world with beautifully crisp and bright colour. I have yet to tire of reading his books. March 17th is Chris Van Dusen’s birthday and in celebration of this, I will post my favourite books authored and illustrated by him, starting with the book that introduced me to this modern day Dr.Suess.
